Listen to this sitar cover of White Stripes - "Seven Nation Army" from Westworld

***Light SPOILERS for Westworld Season 2, episode 3, “Virtù e Fortuna” ***

“If being pampered by our world-class spa isn’t your cup of Darjeeling Tea, the park’s jungles and mountains are your only chance to glimpse magnificent beasts long vanished from your world.” – Delos Destinations website

Westworld has promised to expand the world of the Western themed park and the near future Earth in general and on third episode of the new season we do get a couple glimpses. The trailer did feature a look at a Shogun-styled Japanese world (and the end of the episode hints at it some more) but the episode opens in a Colonial Indian world. Tourists travel to what appears to be British Raj India. The park is called The Raj and is “park 6” for the Delos corporation. A time of British rule and imperialism on the subcontinent. Guests mingle with hosts who wait on them while they enjoy afternoon tea in the sun, drink gin, ride elephants and hunt exotic animals (like tigers!).

The song used a departure form the traditional olden time piano cover. This time we’re getting a stylized sitar take on The White Stripes 2003 arena anthem, “Seven Nation Army.”

The song, as always, is part of the narrative.  Show song composer, Ramin Djawadi, selects a song that speaks to the different nations coming together. The song is also about battle and a violent struggle. All hints at the episode to come.

Don’t want to hear about it
Every single one’s got a story to tell
Everyone knows about it
From the Queen of England to the hounds of hell

And if I catch it coming back my way
I’m gonna serve it to you
And that ain’t what you want to hear
But that’s what I’ll do
And the feeling coming from my bones
Says find a home
