WRDSB Tranportation Skills Competition

We are excited to announce that our 2019 WRDSB Transportation Skills

Competition (TSC) will be held on Thursday March 28, 2019 @ Eastwood

Collegiate Institute in Kitchener.

The “best wrenches” from the secondary schools in the Waterloo Region District School Board, will meet to compete in various automotive skill demonstrations. The winner will represent their school and the WRDSB at the Ontario Skills Competition, held on May 6th in Toronto.

The competition has allowed students the opportunity to compete at something they feel passionate about and a chance to demonstrate and measure their skills in a fun and inclusive environment. The TSC has driven several students to increase their skills proficiency and has raised the bar for achievement as the TSC skills are directly related to the essential skills of the course and in line with the boards “Big ideas” for transportation tech. Students have had increased sense of confidence in a Co-op setting as they have improved their fundamental skills and expectations in an automotive environment . Students enrolled in the “Special High Skills Major” program receive an SHSM certificate when they complete TSC preparation assignment. Students also stand to benefit from several tool prizes that will contribute to their future pathway into the transportation industry and possible recruitment at the event as well.

Sponsors will have the opportunity to check out the local talent at the event and recruit potential students for their business. All donated funds will go towards maintaining and running the event. Commemorative swag and tool prizes to go to our top contestants to help them towards their entry into a career and adding to memorable high school experience for our students.
